» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Alastirra. With all her titles and affiliations it's Farseer Alastirra of Telaar, but she rarely uses it unless she's being formal.
Character PULL-POINT: After Dalaran is teleported to the Broken Shore.
Character AGE: 787. Draenei are an extremely long-lived race; the oldest known member clocks in at 25,000 years old (Velen you are an old fart). Call Alastirra in her mid-20s as compared to a human.

Character ABILITIES: While I realize these are nerfed in Fa'Diel, I'm going to leave the information here. So! Alastirra is well-versed in shamanic magic and thus is very "in touch" with the elements of the world--at least, she is on Azeroth. Upon coming to the world of Exsilium, she may need to appease the elements of this place that she's found herself. It will take a little time and some effort, and being nice to the earth and wind and fire and water, but she's done it before on the remnants of Draenor and Azeroth proper, so she's used to that. Before she was called by the elements, she had been in training to become a warrior; though she's given up the abilities granted by that class, she still has the mental training to assess a situation

As a Draenei, Alastirra has a racial ability called "Gift of the Naaru", that allows her to heal herself or another person for a small amount. It isn't likely to save someone from dying, but it works in a triage situation while waiting for a healer. Luckily, even an elemental shaman can heal effectively, they just have to rest afterwards. While this is active, a glowing rune appears in the air above her head.

Alastirra is skilled at tending plants and knows all of Azeroth's important herbs; she also keeps a number of seeds on her to be able to grow things. She uses the herbs she grows to mill into powder for ink, as she is a skilled scribe. She can also make paper, though it's hardly of the quality that a modern day machine could provide.

Character HISTORY: Alastirra was the first-born child in her family, with her younger brother Ezoshker coming much later, after Draenor's shattering. She herself was born in Farahlon perhaps a dozen years before. As a youngling, her first interest was the warrior's arts, and her parents permitted this--historically, her mother's family had been paladins, and Faalira hoped that Alastirra would soon be called to the Light. Her disappointment in her only daughter was thinly veiled when Alastirra felt no particular calling, and continued on the warrior's path. But that was not meant to last--the orcs, driven by the Burning Legion, were on the warpath, and the destruction wrought by the corrupted clans grew ever nearer. Alastirra's family fled first to Shattrath with many other Draenei refugees, narrowly surviving the fall of that city. They evacuated to Tuurem after her father was afflicted with the fel energy that made him Kro'kul, or Broken. During this time, Ezoshker was born. Her mother treasured the male child as the last she would ever have, but Alastirra was a treasure in her own right, being both female and unafflicted by the wasting sickness.

Ever on the run from the orcs, Alastirra and what remained of her family moved on to Telredor, in Zangarmarsh. Her father had taken ill, and like many of the rest of the Broken, were driven off by the healthy Draenei, so that the illness--if illness it was--could not spread. Life was hard, as everyone had to lend a hand to hide from the still-marauding orcs, gather food and herbs, and simply survive from day to day.

That is, of course, until the orcish warlock Gul'dan, with the aid of the sorceror Medivh, opened the Dark Portal between Azeroth and Draenor, and shattered the latter planet in the process. Through luck, the blessings of the gods, the will of the elements, or fickle fate, Zangarmarsh was part of the planet that survived to be called Outlands, though thousands, Orc and Draenei both, died in the catastrophe.

Alastirra was one of the Draenei present when Velen and Nobundo introduced the path of shamanism to their people at Telredor. Both she and her brother Ezoshker became initiates, though their instruction under the prestigious Broken did not last--Nobundo had his message to spread, and the Prophet was busy with other plans that a pair of relative younglings like Alastirra and Ezoshker were not privy to. However, they became clear when Vindicator Faalira was chosen to accompany the Prophet to Tempest Keep, and a number of other Draenei priests, shaman, and more--a small army--freed one of the keep's satellites, the Exodar. Unfortunately, the ship was sabotaged, and instead of its transdimentional engines activating, they malfunctioned, and the ship crash landed on Azeroth.

Both Alastirra and her younger brother were amongst the survivors; however, either in the fighting or in the crash landing, Faalira had perished. Alastirra swallowed her sorrow, did her best to get Ezoshker situated with the shamanic initiates on the island where the Exodar had crashed, and set to work herself, helping the wounded. She was quickly enlisted to help repair the destruction done to the surrounding environment by the crash. It was also discovered that blood elves, serving Kael'thas Sunstrider, were attempting to prevent any survivors from reaching the Exodar proper and the fortifications that the Prophet Velen and his people had made there. With some luck and no little skill, she eluded them and managed to swim the ford and head to Azure Watch, the outlying village that had sprung up near the Exodar's crash site, and warn the Draenei there.

With the knowledge that there had been crystals from the Exodar scattered on Bloodmyst Isle as well, Alastirra was sent there to help alleviate the damage. It was there that she was admitted into the Hand of Argus, a military arm of the Exodar, after she defeated the Eredar Sironas, who was leading the blood elves in Kael's name. This satisfied the members of the Alliance who had tried to make tentative overtures--the human admiral Odesyus, Adamant Ironheart, a dwarf from the Explorer's League, and the night elf priestess Kyleen Il'dinare.

That was only the beginning of her adventures on Azeroth, as her travels took her from the forests of Ashenvale to the deserts of Tanaris, and many places in between, be it helping the Night Elven Sentinels throw off the Horde invaders attempting to cut down the ancient forests, or the goblins of the Steamwheedle Cartel rescue some of their people stranded by the onrushing waters of the Cataclysm. That event saw Alastirra recalled from the icy snows of Northrend, where she had been helping clean up the undead left in the wake of the Lich King's fall. Her new orders were to help the Earthen Ring discover precisely why the elements were going mad. No one could have suspected the rise of Deathwing from the Maelstrom, however, much less a shaman considered young in her power like Alastirra. Still, this took her through the sunken city of Vash'jir, to the revealed land of Uldum in southern Kalimdor, the Twilight Highlands of the Eastern Kingdom, and even to Hyjal itself. Alastirra was involved in the effort to recover fragments of the World-Pillar from the Earthen elemental plane of Deepholm, and to soothe Therazane, the angered Elemental Lady of Earth.

When tensions between the Alliance and the Horde rose, Alastirra listened, both to the rumors being passed in Darnassus and to what the elements themselves were saying. When the young Prince of Stormwind, Anduin Wrynn, was presumed lost in a new, mist-shrouded island, Alastirra was called, with a number of other adventurers, and charged with finding him. Thus began her adventures on the new continent of Pandaria, which had been shrouded in mist since the Sundering, ten thousand years ago. The Pandaren believed that everyone else had been killed when that event happened--and the rest of the world thought Pandaria and its people were little but myth. It was quite the surprise when the airship she rode parted the mists, and she arrived in the little town of Paw'don, to find herself surrounded by a dozen Pandaren and a handful of human and other survivors from the gyrocopters that had been shot down by Garrosh Hellscream's warships. Both the folk of the Alliance and the inhabitants of Pandaria were harmed, and as ever, Alastirra stepped up to help the wounded and the lost to be healed, and find their way.

This included repelling attacks by the mantid and the yaungol, and opposing both a resurrected Mogu warlord and the Warchief of the Horde, Garrosh Hellscream. Formerly a hero of Northrend, Garrosh decided to dig up the remnants of an old god--to what end, Alastirra could not say. His own people rose up against him, and he was put down, with the Darkspear troll chieftain Vol'jin becoming the new Warchief, and Hellscream being imprisoned for his crimes.

Sadly, the imprisonment did not last--with a rogue dragon of the Bronze flight, Hellscream escaped and made an entire alternate timeline to absolve himself of his crimes, by setting his father Grom--a hero in the main Azeroth timeline, though he died to become one--as the Warchief of the Iron Horde, which did not fall to Gul'dan's machinations and drink demon blood. Instead, on this Draenor, which was never destroyed, the orcs were overrunning everything, and the echoes were even reaching the Azeroth where Alastirra and her allies now lived. Despite being offered the mantle of General, and even accepting, her efforts towards this new war were simple; gathering herbs and other supplies, and generally not being on the front line in any great fashion. And in truth, the Iron Horde was defeated without any great effort from her.

Still, her peace was not to last--not as if that were any great surprise. There were a great number of portents and rumblings that the demonic Burning Legion had set its sight on Azeroth yet again, with the Tomb of the fallen titan Sargeras becoming a portal. A portal that released a tide of demons into the world. Demonic invasions had begun, as well, and the cries of Azeroth's terrified populace--and indeed, its frightened elements, as well--jarred the shaman from her self-imposed reverie. She prepared to pick up her maces once again, just in time to join the first few waves of defenders who were sent to the Broken Isles to try to drive off the Legion.

She saw the King of the Alliance, Varian Wrynn, fall to the warlock Gul'dan's machinations. Being tasked to bring King Wrynn's last missive to his grieving son, she tried to give what comfort she could to young King Anduin--she had been there herself, once, after all. And the evidence was clear: the Legion had returned, and would stop at nothing to destroy the world she now called home.

Alastirra's decision was easy: throw herself into helping the people who needed her.

Character PERSONALITY: For someone who is supposed to be a spiritual visionary, Alastirra is not quite as dreamy-eyed or mystical as one might expect. She is tolerant, even friendly to the reformed Death Knights of the Ebon Blade faction. Scourge and other mindless undead and demons, however, are met with a high amount of suspicion--if not the end of her weapon outright. As one of the younger Draenei, to whom an unshattered Draenor is only a fading memory and Argus only a tale, she is perhaps not as mournful as her elders can be. She enjoys a good laugh and a good joke. She is not too straight-laced to go out to have a drink with her friends. Nor is she particularly hateful of the Horde--when there is so much else that is dark, why hate someone whose viewpoint is only slightly different from your own? That took some long, dark nights of thinking, especially due to the depredations of the old Orcish Horde, and the treachery of Kael'thas' blood elves on Azuremyst, but once Alastirra made that decision, she has stuck to it.

As for the ridiculous behavior of the various races of Azeroth? Including her own, on some days? Alastirra is more likely to point and laugh at the human men running around in dresses, or the female of any species dancing in her underpants atop a mailbox. Though she really is not known to stay for long in cities, preferring to be out in the wilds of Azeroth or Outlands, closer to the elements. That wanderlust is also an excellent way to prevent the elders of her people making attempts to "set her up with a nice Draenei male so she can settle down"--something she doesn't want to think about. One, she isn't ready. Two, it's not usually Draenei males she thinks about. She's had a wandering eye towards the other races in the past, but she's mostly talk and no action. Alastirra simply isn't ready to settle down and raise a youngling or two, though if the right person ever came along, she'd at least give it some consideration.

Most Draenei tend to be devout worshippers of the Holy Light, considering the very real presence of the Naaru in their lives. Alastirra, having heard the voices of the elements, is willing to give lip service to the idea, but puts her faith in the elements--they have never let her down, whereas she feels that the Light did when it allowed her mother to die.

While she is not as esoteric as some shaman, Alastirra is still well in touch with the elements. On occasion she will seem distracted, if she is listening to the wind speaking to her, though she downplays these little "episodes" and laughs them off. However, if the spirits speak of danger, or one of those she cares about is endangered, Alastirra brings the full fury of the elements down upon the perpetrator.

As time has gone on, especially with the depredations of both Garrosh Hellscream on Azeroth and beyond, and the burgeoning atrocities that can be laid at the feet of the Burning Legion (who include the man'ari Eredar, her former people!), it could be said that Alastirra has lost a bit of her "chill"--normally she is incredibly happy go-lucky, but whether it's the fact that she has grown up a little since seeing the destruction of the Vale in Pandaria, or the very serious implications that the Legion's return engenders, she is much more serious these days.

Character INVENTORY: A backpack containing two sets of mail armor (most of the Steadfast set, most of the Radiant set, and a few pieces that accent and complete both), a large pouch full of milling herbs and paper, her mortar and pestle, and some cooking supplies. Most important, however, are the four small, crystal totems that signify her connection to the elements.

» ADDITIONAL NOTES
Draenei don't really have last names; whether this is due to their race nearly being obliterated by the orcs or because of their following of the Light is unclear. Telaar is a city in Nagrand that Alastirra considers her home, and so she's "of Telaar".

Okay, so, how's my goating?

I've never done one of these before, so please be gentle!

I do try to be pretty accurate with lore and stuff, so if I goof somewhere, correct me.

This is probably going to be pretty open-ended, which means I will add to it when I think of it.

Alastirra, how DOES your garden grow? or, more accurately, what's in it?

Along one side, nearer to the overhanging tree: blackberry and raspberry canes. These are at the end of their production period as of 10/24/11.

In the stone-bordered plot:

Corn. This also has pretty much been harvested; Alastirra has dried most of it to make into cornmeal, as that will last longer.  Some of it is also seeds.

Tomato bushes--mostly broken down and mulched.

Pumpkin vines--which are FULL of pumpkins; Alastirra is working on harvesting all of these as she can.

Strawberries--There are still some strawberries nearing harvest. She probably should plant more.

Peacebloom flowers, in bloom.  Also need replanting again soon, because they make good tea.

Peas--ready to harvest.  Onions--some are ready. Garlic--Also ready.  Bell peppers--Also ready to harvest.

Wheat--so far all of this has been harvested, dried, and ground into flour. Either she's been using it herself, or has passed it about to interested parties.

Lettuce plants and potato plants--these are probably ready as well.

In another separate stone-bordered plot: Lupin's tea plants, which she is caring for.

Also along one side, on the outside of the plot proper: Sunflower canes.  She has some seeds left over from these ready for planting, but most of the seeds have also been processed--either made into meal for cooking, or sunflower seed butter--yes, think peanut butter with sunflower seeds instead.

There are no actual fruit or nut trees in Alastirra's garden area, but she likely knows where some are in Hydroponics.
